Class of 2023 Graduation Rate is Second Highest in District History

The School District of Lee County is proud to announce the graduation rate for the Class of 2023 rose to 85.1%, tying the mark set two years ago for the second highest in District history. The only higher rate was in 2019-2020 when graduating classes were exempt from statewide, standardized assessment requirements stipulated in state law.

The statewide results also show that the School District of Lee County increased its graduation rate for the Class of 2023 at a much greater rate than the state of Florida. Florida’s graduation rate increased 0.7 percentage points to 88%, while the District increased nearly four times more, 2.6 percentage points.

Most notable is the 9.1 percentage increase for East Lee County High School, improving to a 95.1% graduation rate for the class of 2023. Island Coast High School saw a 5% jump in its graduation rate to 88%, while Lee Virtual School improved by 8.1 points to a 98.9% graduation rate. Ten District schools and Lee Virtual had graduation rates above 90%.

“Our students rose to the challenge to set the second highest graduation rate ever and improve on the pre-pandemic rate set by the Class of 2020,” said Superintendent Dr. Christopher Bernier. “Their success is a testament to the collective effort and hard work of our teachers, support staff and school administrators to help each student focus on their graduation needs so they could earn their diploma. We are proud of their accomplishments and they should celebrate their success.”
