Lee County High School and Middle School Unified Track Meets

The School District of Lee County, with support from Lee County Parks & Recreation and Special Olympics Florida, will host unified track meets for middle school students and high school students on February 14th and 15th. More than 500 students will compete during the two-day event.

Special Olympics Unified Sports combines students with intellectual or developmental disabilities (called “Athletes”) and students without intellectual disabilities or developmental disabilities (called “Partners”) on sports teams for training and competition. Through participation in Unified Sports schools help to build a society of acceptance and inclusion and create friendship opportunities.

Eleven high schools will send 267 students to compete in the 4x100 and 4x200 relay, shot put and long jump. 245 Middle school students from nine schools and Buckingham Exceptional Student Center will complete in the 4x100 and a 4x200 relay, and the long jump. Each relay team consist of two Athletes and two Partners.
